Space may be the final frontier, but for those of us heading to the ST:LV 60th Anniversary Trek to Vegas (August 5–9, 2026), the real journey begins much sooner. Specifically, it begins on May 7–13, 2026, as we take our preliminary "Road to Sedona" spiritual recalibration.

At Dale’s Angels Inc., we believe that every great voyage, whether it’s across the Alpha Quadrant or just across the Nevada state line, requires two things: a soul-stirring book and a perfectly roasted cup of coffee. As we look toward the diamond anniversary of the franchise that taught us to "boldly go," we’ve updated our legendary travel guide with a new "Brews & Books" layer. This isn't just about survival in the desert; it’s about thriving in the luxury of the moment.

The "French-Southern Fusion" of the Soul

When you’re lounging at the Encore or preparing for a high-end dinner at L'Auberge in Sedona, your reading material needs to match the decadence of the menu. We’re calling this the French-Southern Fusion pairing.

For this, we’ve selected "The Secret Lives of Church Ladies" by Deesha Philyaw. Much like a perfectly executed French-Southern meal, think truffles meeting cornbread, Philyaw’s prose is rich, layered, and unapologetically bold. These stories of longing, rebellion, and the pursuit of joy are the perfect companion for those moments when you’re trading your Starfleet uniform for something a bit more... "civilian luxury."

Pair this read with our French Roast from FB Roasters. Its dark, smoky, and bold profile stands up to the complex emotional landscapes Philyaw paints. If you're feeling adventurous before the sun goes down, try the "Midnight in Paris" Espresso Martini:

  • 2 oz Vodka

  • 1 oz Freshly brewed & chilled FB Roasters French Roast

  • 0.5 oz Coffee Liqueur

  • 0.25 oz Simple Syrup

  • Shake with ice, strain, and garnish with three beans for health, wealth, and happiness.

The Mystical Journey: Crossing the Vortex

Star Trek has always been about more than just warp drives; it’s about the ghosts we carry and the legacies we leave behind. As we approach the 60th Anniversary, we find ourselves reflecting on the spiritual side of the Trek legacy.

Our "Mystical Journey" Pairing features "Sing, Unburied, Sing" by Jesmyn Ward. This novel is a masterpiece of magical realism, exploring connection, family, and the spirits that haunt our history. As you sit among the red rocks of Sedona during our May 7–13 trek, the "vortex" energy of the landscape mirrors the haunting, beautiful prose of Ward’s work. It reminds us that the "final frontier" is often the bridge between the living and the dead, the past and the future.

This pairing calls for something rugged yet sweet. We recommend the Cowboy Blend, with its notes of cocoa, caramel, and vanilla. It’s a grounded coffee for a story that reaches for the stars (and the spirits).

36 Hours in the Frontier: The Itinerary

If you’re joining us for the ST:LV 60th festivities, here is how to spend your first 36 hours in style:

  • 08:00 AM: Wake up in your suite. Start the kettle for a pour-over of Latin American Blend.

  • 10:00 AM: Morning reading. Dive into "To The Stars" by George Takei (available at Far From Beale Street). Takei’s journey from the internment camps to the bridge of the Enterprise is the ultimate testament to the human spirit.

  • 01:00 PM: Head to the convention floor at the Rio. Grab your Books and Brew Subscription box, yes, the one with the free Dot Journal, at the FB Roasters pop-up.

  • 04:00 PM: Happy Hour. It’s time for the "Latin Quarter" Cold Brew Tonic. Mix 1.5 oz Gin with 2 oz Latin American Blend Cold Brew and top with tonic and lime. It’s bright, nutty, and exactly what you need after three hours of celebrity panels.

Stargazing & Poetry: The African Kahawa Ritual

As the desert sun dips below the horizon, the real magic begins. Whether you are on a balcony at the Encore or sitting by a fire pit in the Sedona backcountry, the stars in the desert hit differently. They feel close enough to touch, as if a Starship might actually drop out of warp right above you.

For this late-night reflection, we’ve curated a special session of Stargazing & Poetry. Reach for the works of Maya Angelou or Langston Hughes. Angelou’s "Phenomenal Woman" or Hughes’ "The Negro Speaks of Rivers" provides a soulful, timeless rhythm that matches the pulse of the universe.

The only acceptable pairing for this is FB Roasters’ African Kahawa. This coffee is a celebration of the birthplace of the bean, offering bright berry and citrus notes that feel as expansive as the night sky. It’s a high-vibe coffee for high-vibe thinking.

Why the 60th Anniversary Matters

Sixty years of Star Trek is sixty years of believing that we can be better. It’s sixty years of inclusive storytelling, scientific curiosity, and the belief that a cup of "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot" can solve a diplomatic crisis.

At Dale’s Angels Inc., we don't just sell coffee and books; we sell the moments that happen in between. We provide the fuel for the thinkers, the dreamers, and the travelers. Whether you’re reading "The Ferengi: Masters of Profit" for a laugh or deeply immersed in Jesmyn Ward’s haunting landscapes, you’re part of a tradition of explorers.
