GM, fellow explorers! If you’ve been following our journey here at Dale's Angels Inc., you know that things are reaching a fever pitch. Between the Murderbot series kickoff for our Books and Brews subscription and Felicia’s birthday planning for Lake Mead, the energy is electric. But there is one massive event on the horizon that has us all buzzing more than a triple-shot espresso: the Star Trek: Las Vegas (ST:LV) 60th Anniversary convention.

Taking place from August 5-9, 2026, at the Rio Las Vegas Hotel, this isn't just a convention; it’s a diamond jubilee for the Alpha Quadrant. Sonny recently dropped some incredible costume concepts in his Monday post, and frankly, I’m obsessed. Prepping for five days of intergalactic celebration requires more than just a sewing machine and a dream, it requires high-quality caffeine and a tactical plan.

Whether you’re a seasoned cosplayer or a first-timer looking to sport your first Command Gold tunic, here is how we are prepping for the 60th, one cup at a time.

Navigating the Eras: 60 Years of Trek

One of the most exciting aspects of the 60th Anniversary is the daily theme schedule. We aren’t just celebrating one show; we are celebrating six decades of a vision that changed the world.

Star Trek Event Schedule

We have been rendering some breathtaking "Star Trek Eras" looks that span from the 1960s to the 2020s. We’re talking everything from the structured, retro-futurism of The Original Series to the sleek, high-contrast aesthetics of Star Trek: Picard and Discovery.

If you are planning your wardrobe, think about these daily highlights:

  • The 60s/70s: Think primary colors, velour, and those iconic high-waisted trousers.

  • The 80s/90s: This is the era of the "Monster Maroons" and the pajamas-comfy-but-professional TNG jumpsuits.

  • The 2000s and Beyond: The tactical, detailed look of Discovery and the "Section 31" vibe.

For those of us working on our gear, this is the "crunch time" phase. I’ve found that the best way to power through a night of hemming trousers or 3D-printing phaser props is a steady supply of FB Roasters French Roast. Its dark, smoky, and bold profile is exactly what you need when you’re trying to distinguish between "Midnight Navy" and "Tactical Black" thread at 2:00 AM.

"Digital Realism" Meets Fabric

Our ision unique is the blend of "Digital Realism & Aesthetic Direction." We are not just looking at costumes as clothes;  We are looking at them as an extension of character.

Star Trek Cosplay Concept

We suggest some incredible "Mash-up" ideas, think Section 31 tactical gear with a touch of modern streetwear. If you’re looking for something that feels both futuristic and grounded, he’s your guy. We are also keeping a close eye on the "Galaxy Quest" live reading event. There’s a rumor that "By Grabthar's Hammer," we might see some Thermian-inspired ensembles in the crowd. If you’re going the Galaxy Quest route, remember: never give up, never surrender... and always bring extra wig glue.

Fueling the Build: The Books & Brews Connection

Cosplay prep is a marathon, not a sprint. To keep your creative juices flowing, we recommend pairing your sewing sessions with something from our Books & Brews collection. Since we are currently diving into All Systems Red from the Murderbot series (check out our latest Bookshop.org selection), there’s a certain "anti-social SecUnit" joy in locking yourself in your craft room and ignoring the world.

FFBS Books & Brews Subscription

While you work, why not brew a pot of FB Roasters Cowboy Blend? With notes of cocoa, caramel, and vanilla, it’s the ultimate "comfort coffee." It’s rugged enough for a frontier captain but sweet enough to keep you from throwing your sewing machine out the window when the bobbin runs out.

Survival Tips for the Rio

If you’ve ever been to the Rio in August, you know it’s a land of extremes. Outside, it’s a desert furnace; inside, the air conditioning is set to "Sub-Zero Vulcan Winter."

  1. The Multi-Layer Strategy: Sonny’s designs often incorporate vests or jackets. This is practical! You’ll want those layers when you’re sitting in a 90-minute panel about warp core physics.

  2. Comfortable Footwear: We cannot stress this enough. Las Vegas convention floors are unforgiving. If your cosplay requires 6-inch platform space boots, please, for the love of Spock, bring a pair of backup flats.

  3. Hydration (and Caffeineation): You’ll be talking a lot. Whether you're debating who the best captain is (it's Sisko, let's be real) or reciting the Litany Against Fear, keep water on hand. And for that afternoon slump? A cold-brewed Latin America Blend will keep you going until the late-night parties.

Tactical Gear and Section 31

For those who prefer the shadows, Sonny has been leaning into the Section 31 aesthetic. It’s sleek, it’s black, and it’s undeniably cool.

Section 31 Tactical

This "spy-craft" look is perfect for those who want to participate in cosplay without the bright primary colors of the standard fleet uniforms. It also pairs perfectly with a flask of Whiskey Barrel Aged Coffee, the bourbon notes and oaky finish feel just as sophisticated and mysterious as a covert operative.

Planning the After-Party at Lake Mead

As Felicia mentioned, we are currently scouting the best Airbnbs at Lake Mead for the post-con wind-down. After five days of "pew-pew" and "live long and prosper," there is nothing better than retreating to a "Quiet Luxury" home by the water.
